The translated stories in this volume come from the pen of one of the outstanding short story writers in Bangladesh today. Shahaduz Zaman's content, style and form do not follow a set or conventional pattern. He combines the narrative style of folk tales with the most intricate and experimental elements of modern day story telling, to create his own oeuvre. Prose, poetry, fantasy and reality break their own boundaries and blend in his work. He has been termed the writer to look out for, by veterans such as Syed Shamsul Haq, for his craftsmanship and untiring efforts in reviving the moribund stream of short story writing in Bengali. His art of harnessing the timeless spirit of Bengal and the spirit of the times make him a writer one has to read with one's heart as well as one's mind. He also published Non fiction books on film, travelogue, collection of interviews and essays on issues related to art and culture.
