Book Summary:
After a lapse of only four decades, it turns much away from its avowed goals. The true spirit of our Liberation War is vitiated by the horrid spectra of the anti-Liberation forces, democracy and rule of law are trampled under military boots; the constitution is dissected by unlawful rulers and opportunist politicians, and the road to democracy and secularism is throttled by appallingly increasing terrorism and religious military. All these have made our beloved Bangladesh’s wounded land.’ This is the real angst of our time. The author has tried to paint the gravity of the situation in Bangladesh. The subjects of the book, among others, include unique single-topic issues like the Language. Movement and the Liberation War, global cutting-edge concerns like terrorism, religious militancy, and warcrimes, and crucial national events and pressing records like the post-liberation political transitions and tensions, rule of Alliance and Great Alliance Governments, Caretaker hegemony, Army interventions, recession, price-hike etc. The book is written in excellent English. The readers can savour it with obvious literary relish, and finally be left with an effect of current history.
